WOMEN BY WOMEN

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY PROJECT
With a distinct focus on women and community engagement

Art Concept Alternative (organizer), Raw Space (venue) and Art Daily News International Magazine (promoter) are working together on WOMEN BY WOMEN, a multi-disciplinary project with a distinct focus on women and community engagement that will take place at Raw Space, Vero Beach, Florida, USA December 14, 2018 through January 25, 2019.

Women by Women Statements:

  • Women by Women is not an exclusive event seeking to reinforce gender stereotypes. The gender inequality, like stereotypes, is a global phenomenon that affects men and women and retards the progress of civilization itself.
  • Women by Women is a chant for All Women that define ourselves for who we are and not for the role we play in society. We feel proud of our femininity and, regardless our private histories, see no limits for our own dreams.
  • Women by Women focuses on improving the relationships between men and women through education. The future of our world relies in today’s young women and men, and in overcoming the history of inequality that requires the full participation of every child, man, woman, and young adult. I- Women by Women International Exhibition. A group of Contemporary female artists showcasing art installations, painting, photography, sculpture, and video-art. Special Community Project: The Faces of Eve-Vero Beach by Niurka Barroso.

The Faces of Eve - Vero Beach

140 Women
Picture
“The Faces of Eve” is an itinerant photographic project about women and the place they call HOME. Our first stop: Vero Beach, Florida—a small, lovely coastal town where people from all over the planet emerge in colorful relief, and women of all ages and ethnicity make up much of the population. The photographs will be shown as a group mural at the Women by Women International Exhibition; at Raw Space December 14, 2018 to January 30, 2019. We are planning two months of art, connections and debate about issues women are facing today.

All the photographs are similar in technique, composition and style. Our goal is to represent the women on a democratic platform to challenge conventional ideas of beauty, age, wealth, ethnicity and social status; the mural serving as a mirror of social and cultural diversity.

Why Niurka Barroso?
Barroso is a Cuban-born Canadian photographer who specializes in documentary and fine art photography. Niurka graduated from Havana University with a degree in Classical Languages and worked for the France Press Agency (AFP) for twelve years. She was awarded the Casa de las Americas Award for Contemporary Photography, and is a member of Photographers without Borders.
