Tatiz Cala

STATEMENT

“My intention is to create movement, transparency…life.  My inspiration is Nature, the sea, the wind”. 

CURRICULUM VITAE

Sculptor born in Bogota, Colombia. She studied art at the Universidad de los Andes, in Bogota (1967-1969); Design in Milwaukee (1972), and Sculpture in Pietrasanta, Italy (1989-1990). Cala worked as a designer at the Colombian Company Granitos y Marmoles, where she created a distinguished line of utilitarian and decorative objects. In 1989, she retired from industrial work to dedicate herself fully to art, and travel to Pietrasanta, Italy to learn the latest carving techniques. For several years, she has worked in stone and marble, and participated in exhibitions in Colombia and abroad. Lately, she has experimented with paper, developing sculptural works on paper. 
 Tatiz has exhibited her sculptures in Colombia and overseas. She is part of the Women by Women Art Exhibition organized by Art Concept Alternative/Raw Space in Florida.
